ZOO 103 100% FINAL TERM SOLVED PAPER · 2022 BY SULM AN ALI · SUBJECTIVE + · OBJECTIVE · Most imp 140 MCQs · With most imp · question · Peripatric speciation

Peripatric speciation is a mode of speciation in which a new species is formed from an isolated peripheral population.

Punctuated gradualism

In evolutionary biology, punctuated equilibrium (also called punctuated equilibria) is a theory that proposes that once a species appears in the fossil record, the population will become stable, showing little evolutionary change for most of its geological history.

Two way Anova

In two-way ANOVA there are two independent variables and one dependent variable. In one-way ANOVA there was only one independent variable .The population must be close to a normal distribution. Samples must be independent. Population variances must be equal.

Conditions for t test

The conditions required to conduct a t-test include the measured values in ratio scale or interval scale, simple random extraction, homogeneity of variance, appropriate sample size, and normal distribution of data.

How silk gland secreted

The silk gland is the only organ where silk proteins are synthesized and secreted in the silkworm, Bombyx mori. Silk proteins are stored in the lumen of the silk gland for around eight days during the fifth instar. Determining their dynamic changes is helpful for clarifying the secretion mechanism of silk proteins.

Control of yellow stem borer

Destruction of weeds harbouring pests • Pulling out infested rice plant • Flooding the field after harvest • Stubble (short cut stalks) left after harvest should be • ploughed up and burn or submerged in water immediately after harvest • Crop rotation

Charecterstics of reptiles

Reptiles are vertebrates. They have backbones. Their bodies are completely covered with scales. They are cold-blooded. Reptiles produce shelled eggs or bear live young. All species fertilize eggs internally. All species of reptiles have at least one lung.

Body parts of scorpion

The body of a scorpion is divided into two parts or tagmata: the cephalothorax or prosoma, and the abdomen or opisthosoma. The opisthosoma is subdivided into a broad anterior portion, the mesosoma or pre-abdomen, and a narrow tail-like posterior, the metasoma or post-abdomen.

Cephalothorax of spider

Cephalic region has 6-8 eyes •Eyes or black or diurnal •White or nocturnal •If only one type of eyes (homogenous) •If both type of eyes or present (heterogeneous) Usually arranged in two rows•Each row usually contain 4 eyes. •Rows of eyes are frequently curved. •Anterior median/Anterior lateral •Posterior median/Posterior lateral• Cephalic area of eyes is called ocular area. •Area of four median eyes is called ocular quad. •The area between anterior row of eyes and anterior margin of carapace is clypeus •The depression in the middle of thorax is called thoracic groove or fovea.

Rice leaf folder mode of demage and control

Damage

  • Larval stage is damaging

•All stages of plants are damaged by this pest

  • Newly hatched caterpillar cut leaf edges and folds the leaf
  • Infested leaves appear white
  • Attacked plant dries up
  • Yield loss vary from 10-50%

Control

  • Reform tillage and cultivation system
  • Light trap or lure can be used.
  • Utilize natural enemies (beetles and Trichogramma spp.) as biological control
  • Application of chlorpyrifos EC 1000ml/acre

Characteristics of molusca

They are mostly found in marine and freshwater. … They exhibit organ system level of organization. Their body has a cavity. The body is divided into head, visceral mass, muscular foot and mantle.

Difference b/w Sample standard deviation and population standard deviation

  • A sample standard deviation is a statistic. This means that it is

calculated from only some of the individuals in a population.

  • The population standard deviation is a parameter, which is a fixed value calculated from every individual in the population.

Note on sericulture in Pakistan

Despite the growing demand for natural silk, this industry could not flourish in Pakistan.

  • This industry is facing numerous challenges such as lack of trained

personnel, high mortality rate in local silk breed, and poor economic conditions of the farmers. • Unfortunately, this industry has not been on the list of priorities of us Government.

  • Provide livelihood for rural poor families but silk proteins also have wide range of applications in textile, food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industry as well as in traditional medicines.
  • Currently, Pakistan is importing about 70% raw silk to meet the demand of local market.

Epigyne

Females genetal organ is also present on ventral side of the abdomen. It is called epigyne.

Who introduced pronghorn

In 1855 John Edward Gray published the name of Pronghorn

Classification of green lacewings

Green lacewings are an often under-appreciated group of beneficial insects. The adult green lacewing is about 3/4 inch long, light green and has a delicate appearance with lacy wings. • One unusual characteristic are its eyes, they look like two golden hemispheres. • They are weak fliers and are commonly found near aphid colonies.

Classification of whitefly. Whiteflies are Hemipterans that typically feed on the undersides of plant leaves. They comprise the family Aleyrodidae, the only family in the superfamily Aleyrodoidea. More than 1550 species have been described. Kingdom animalia ,phylum Arthropoda, class insecta, order hemipetra.

Define and example of homology structure

Homologous structures are similar physical features in organisms that share a common ancestor, but the features serve completely different functions. An example of homologous structures are the limbs of humans, cats, whales, and bats

Three types of sponges

The approximately 5,000 living sponge species are classified in the phylum Porifera, which is composed of three distinct groups, the Hexactinellida (glass sponges), the Demospongia, and the Calcariea (calcareous sponges). Composition of silkworm. silkworm consists of two main proteins, sericin and fibroin, fibroin being the structural center of the silk, and serecin being the sticky material surrounding it. Chemical Composition of Silk Fiber: · Fibroin: 75% · Ash of Silk Fibroin: 0.5% · Sericin:

  1. 5% · Fat and Wax: 1.5% · Mineral Salt: 0.5%
